Here's some of what Rush covered in his show today:
Note, Rush's comments will be in two styles - Bold Italics (key points) and Italics (sub-points). My commentary [will be in brackets].
As President Obama was giving a speech at the same time as Rush's broadcast, Rush alerted listeners he would be reviewing themes covered in the early parts of the show later.
- A new Pew Poll shows a majority of Americans don't trust the media. Some reports on the polls watered the results down by including "New Media" in with media Media, the implication being that the Internet news skewed the results.
- The, "State Controlled Media," has an attitude that the customer is always WRONG. This is the same arrogant attitude the Liberal Left has towards the electorate, as in, they know what's best for us even if opposition is voiced.
- While most US media sources grossly underreported the huge numbers in attendance for the Tea Party Express in Washington D.C., the UK Daily Mail reported up to 2 million marched in Washington. That's more than in attendance for President Obama's inauguration. Just like after Dan's Bake sale, no trash was left behind after the Tea Party.
[There was a surprising LACK of media reporting on, let alone accurately reporting on the numbers, of people attending regional Tea Parties throughout the Country.]
- Joe Wilson should not apologize again for shouting out, "You lie," during President Obama's speech before a joint session of Congress. IF Congressman Wilson decided to apologize again he should only do so if Nancy Pelosi apologizes to the CIA and Harry Reid apologizes to George W. Bush. The apology issue came up during both commentary and with callers to the show.
- The American Thinker has an excellent article about the 9/12 event noting, "We are witnessing a very rare phenomenon, the genuine, broad based spontaneous political movement with no visible charismatic leaders." Rush continued to explain that, (not verbatim), "No charismatic leaders got people to go the rallies. People went by their own passion." This is because Americans put a, "premium on liberty versus tyranny." Further, this movement is the antithesis of Obama, who is charismatic.
- "Journalistic Malpractice," was demonstrated by clips of CNN and other media skewing people at the rallies.
[I had previously seen some of these clips online and my personal experience and that of friends who were in D.C. would show a decidedly different crowd than that which certain 'reporters' sought out. My observation is people attending these events are patriots; hard working Americans who do not feel they are being heard. Sure, anytime there's a crowd, there will be some fringe element that is attracted. It simply is not accurate to paint even a fraction of such non sequitur gadflies as being remotely representative of Tea Party attendees.]
- "Double standards," were personified in an article by Face the Nation host, Bob Schieffer, where Schieffer thinks meanness has just entered the, "Public Commons," regarding Congressman Joe Wilson and signs at some Tea Parties that read: "Bury Obamacare with Kennedy." Rush easily enumerated countless examples of Democrats being less than civil - John Murtha is a key example.
[Leaves one wondering why the outrage or coverage by members of the media is not evenly distributed - Double Standards.]
- Rush describes, "Media Repeaters not Reporters," wondering, "where's the skepticism?" As an example, he compared the inquisitive press behavior at the press conference about a murdered Yale student to seeming lack of curiosity about any information from this White House.
[The lack of skepticism has puzzled me as well, including that effecting everyday people . It makes little sense that people have great skepticism about anything conservative and yet seem to have blind acceptance of the White House, President Obama, the Democrat leadership, ACORN, and other liberal touchstones. Maybe the former employee of self-helper Tony Robbins who called in to the Roger Hedgecock show later in the day, is right and Obama is applying Tony Robbins hypnotic techniques. What other explanation can there be?]
- Looking for a, "Force Multiplier," Rush wonders if the media would be able to continue to ignore the stories regarding opposition to Obama if the next series of Tea Parties took place outside major network locations. Would they, "dare to cover what is in front of their eyes?" A caller who had been in D.C. for the Tea Party and was part of a group dressed in period costume talked about the crowds and their needing to start the Freedom Plaza Saturday march early.
[My D.C. source reported the same thing, including that the trains were streaming with people with American flags and posters all heading to the rally.]
- The Race Card - Page one of the Democrats' playbook, which they go to as [a] Healthcare Bill is in trouble. Maureen Dowd's Saturday NY Times Op-Ed piece brands Congressman Joe Wilson a racist for words Dowd's mind filled in and left hanging but THAT WERE NEVER SAID by Congressman Wilson. Race has nothing to do with criticism of Obama, but that is what Democrats will claim even though they are wrong. As long as that continues, the race issue will get worse.
During the campaign Obama complained about Dowd making fun of his ears, as he's sensitive about his ears. Dowd's response to Obama was, apparently, that she was, "...going to toughen you up boy."
Rush queried whether or not participants in immigration rallies of 2008, organized by LaRaza, were called racists.
Rush discussed a touching story of Bernie, a woman who worked for Rush's family when he was a child. After one time when the Limbaugh's drove Bernie home, young Rush talked to his father about the poor conditions of the neighborhood Bernie lived in. He recounted how his father helped Bernie get a better job and helped her family get a house in a good part of town.
[Is it possible that Dowd is extra advanced in the ways of Tony Robbins hypno powers and can see into the future and/or read minds?]
- The Democrats have been taken over by a radical element. Newsweek's cover story featuring a picture of a white baby asks, "Is your baby racist?" This is more of the same race card nonsense.
Rush discussed the effect of the push for diversity, whereby, rather than an American Culture, the left brought us, "Hyphenated America."
- Some pictures of the march in D.C. did make it to liberal Web Sites, however they erroneously reported the pictures as fakes citing the flags being at half-staff proved they were really pictures of the Kennedy funeral procession. Michelle Malkin corrected this misconception as the flags were at half-staff for 9/11 remembrance.
- While independents, etc. are part of the Tea Party crowds, according to Rush, ultimately it is Democrats versus Republicans.
[Personal experience at multiple Tea Parties disagrees with this view. The crowds absolutely have a non-partisan patriot vibe going on.]
- "The rise of a 3rd Party guarantees the re-election of Obama."
Rush, "knows a 3rd party is not going to win diddly squat."
- "Conservatism is the only antidote," to what's going on here with left wing radicals.
- "This [Tea Party movement] is Conservative Ascendancy."
- "Gotta take the Republican Party back and get rid of Democrat lite.
- Diane Feinstein critical of health reform plan, "I just find that if you're going to remake a sixth of the American economy, it's very difficult at this time of great economic angst," in a piece in the San Francisco Chronicle.
Rush offered that Medicaid was bankrupting 50 of the 57 states.
