Originally, the idea for this blog seemed like a good entrepreneurial project for a student to start during the summer. The student in question didn't agree. So... as someone who repeatedly hears misrepresentations of what is actually said on the, Rush Limbaugh excellence in broadcasting radio program, it seemed like a good thing to do a blog Web Site about. Rather than be frustrated by poor reports, What Rush Said, will accurately report and explain broadcast content.
Aside from the vast amount of entertainment contained in the show, there is important information presented during its broadcast. Additionally, it's important to help, even in a small way, set the record straight. If this reflects poorly on the traditional media, will depend wholly on how accurate their reporting is.
While Rush has a huge audience, there are many who don't listen to him. Many who never have tuned in, base their listening decision and their often angry negative opinion of Rush on what they've heard from others about Rush. A clear example is Rush first saying earlier in 2009 that he hoped President Obama fails. These comments were slap chopped up by the, so-called, drive by/mainstream media and misreported and misrepresented. Rush wants America to succeed and believes that President Obama's policies will be bad for America. Therefore, President Obama failing is good for America. This was made very clear by Rush's well received CPAC speech in February, 2009. If this speech, or its transcript was heard or read neutrally by the vast majority of Americans, I venture most would agree and support the principles outlined.
If you're going to form an opinion, try to make it an educated one - whatever it's about whether Rush, President Obama, pending legislation, Congress, etc. The hope of, What Rush Said, is to fill in for those who missed a show, objectively inform those who don't tune in, and expand topics and conversation where there is either agreement or disagreement. We're usually tuned in after all.
